A Practice Named for Patience and Care

Pikul Legal was established to give individuals in Thailand a quiet, attentive place to discuss pension matters without pressure or rush. Our name reflects our approach.

Our Story

How Pikul Legal Came to Be

The practice was founded in Pattaya with a straightforward observation: there were many individuals — particularly those who had worked across different countries or jurisdictions — who found themselves uncertain about their pension entitlements and who had nowhere comfortable to take those questions.

Pension law is technical and, for most people, unfamiliar territory. What we noticed was that clients didn't simply need answers; they needed space to understand their situation at a pace that felt manageable. That is what we set out to offer.

The practice name, Pikul, refers to the pikul jasmine — a small flower with a quiet, lasting fragrance, long associated in Thai culture with steadiness and care. We chose it because it reflects our working philosophy: attention to detail, patience with people, and an absence of any hurry.

We work within pension matters specifically, which allows us to maintain a depth of understanding that broader legal practices cannot match for this area. Over the years we have worked with retirees, individuals approaching retirement, those dealing with disability entitlements, and clients seeking recalculations of what they are owed.

Our Mission

To provide each client with a clear, measured understanding of their pension position — and where it is appropriate, to assist them in pursuing what they are entitled to through the proper channels, without pressure and without rush.

Our Approach

We listen before we speak. Every appointment begins with questions and careful note-taking. We do not offer opinions before we have understood the full picture, and we do not suggest a path of action before discussing alternatives.

Our Values

  • Honesty — we share what we believe, not what may be more comfortable to hear
  • Discretion — all matters are treated in strict confidence
  • Clarity — legal processes explained in plain language
  • Respect — for your time, your circumstances, and your concerns

How We Work

Professional Standards

Strict Confidentiality

All information shared during consultations and throughout our engagement is held in confidence. Client records are stored securely and not disclosed to third parties except where the work requires it and the client has been informed.

Written Summaries as Standard

We provide a written record after every initial consultation. Clients should not have to rely on memory when considering whether and how to proceed. Our summaries are clear, accurate, and belong to the client to keep.

Compliance with Thai Legal Framework

Our work follows the applicable Thai pension legislation, Social Security Act provisions, and administrative procedures. We keep current with regulatory updates that may affect our clients' positions.

Sensitivity in Difficult Matters

Disability and early-retirement pension matters often involve personal circumstances of considerable weight. We approach these conversations with appropriate patience and do not hurry clients through information that needs time to process.

Fee Transparency

Service fees are communicated clearly before any engagement begins. They do not change unless the scope of the matter changes and we have discussed that with the client in advance.

Ongoing Client Communication

Clients are kept informed of progress throughout the engagement. We do not disappear between milestones. Any significant development — expected or otherwise — is communicated promptly.

Pension Counsel in Pattaya — What the Work Involves

Pension matters in Thailand can involve multiple overlapping frameworks — the Social Security Fund, government pension schemes, private occupational arrangements, and, for international residents, the question of how entitlements from other countries interact with time spent working in Thailand. Pikul Legal works across these situations, focusing on what the individual client is entitled to and what steps, if any, are worth taking.

Recalculation requests are among the most common matters we handle. Errors in contribution records are not unusual — particularly for individuals whose working life has crossed organisational or administrative boundaries — and a formal recalculation request, when properly prepared, gives the administering authority the information it needs to revisit an earlier determination.

For clients dealing with disability or early-retirement pension questions, the matters are often more personal and more complex. The applicable thresholds, the required supporting medical documentation, and the review board process all require careful preparation, and the conversations involved require a different kind of attention than purely administrative work.

Pikul Legal's offices are in Pattaya City, on Beach Road, and we see clients from across Chonburi province and the broader Eastern Seaboard. We are reachable by telephone and by email, and we respond to all enquiries within one working day.

A first appointment is a low-commitment starting point

You leave with a written summary. You are under no obligation to proceed further. If you have questions about your pension situation, that is a good enough reason to arrange a conversation.
