I came to the initial consultation not entirely sure what I was looking for — just a sense that my pension from the UK was not being properly accounted for in Thailand. Siriporn was very thorough and patient. The written summary she gave me afterwards was genuinely useful; I read it twice over the following week before deciding to proceed with the recalculation request.

The disability pension process is not simple and I found it quite daunting before coming to Pikul Legal. What made the difference was being allowed to go at my own pace. Nobody rushed me. The representation at the medical review board was also much less stressful than I had expected — I felt properly prepared beforehand.

The fee was clear from the start, which matters to me. I've dealt with legal practices where the final invoice looked nothing like the estimate. Here, what was quoted is what I paid. The recalculation submission was thorough — the contribution records review alone flagged periods I hadn't thought to question.

After the first consultation I wasn't sure I wanted to proceed further — it's a lot to take in. But the written summary was so clear that when I read it again at home, I understood everything. That summary made the decision easier. I ended up going ahead with the recalculation, and I'm glad I did.

I came in for the initial consultation only — I wasn't sure yet that there was a case to be made. The appointment helped me understand that my situation was more straightforward than I feared, and the summary confirmed this in writing. Good value for what it is: information and clarity, no pressure.

My disability pension matter was handled with real sensitivity. It's a personal situation and I wasn't looking forward to explaining it all to someone I'd never met. But the appointment felt like a conversation rather than an interview, and I never felt judged or hurried. The legal work afterwards was handled efficiently.

How the Work Unfolds

Case Study — Recalculation Request

Contribution Periods Overlooked in an Earlier Determination

The Situation

A retired engineer who had worked in Thailand, Germany, and briefly in Singapore found that his Thai pension determination appeared not to reflect certain contribution periods from employment in Thai-registered companies during the 1990s.

What We Did

Following an initial consultation, we reviewed employment and contribution records spanning two decades, identified three periods of under-credited contributions, and prepared a formal recalculation request with a complete supporting documentation pack submitted to the Social Security Office.

The Outcome

The recalculation review was completed by the administering authority within approximately six weeks. The revised determination incorporated two of the three periods identified. The client's monthly pension benefit was adjusted upward as a result. The process took eleven weeks in total from first appointment to revised determination.

"I had no idea those periods could be recovered. It seemed like ancient history. The written review they did was thorough enough to find what the original determination had missed." — R.H., Pattaya

Case Study — Disability Pension Counsel

Disability Entitlement Pursued Under Qualifying Medical Conditions

The Situation

A client who had been working in Thailand for fourteen years and had developed a condition affecting her capacity to continue in her professional role was uncertain whether her circumstances met the qualifying thresholds for a disability pension under the Social Security Act.

What We Did

We reviewed her medical documentation, advised on the applicable criteria, identified the supporting medical reports required, and drafted the formal submission. We accompanied the client through the medical review board process, ensuring she was prepared for what to expect at each stage.

The Outcome

The disability pension was awarded following the review board assessment. The client had initially felt the process was unlikely to succeed; with properly prepared documentation and representation, the submission met the threshold requirements. Total timeline from first appointment to award: approximately four months.

"I was told by someone else to not bother. Pikul Legal showed me it was worth pursuing properly." — M.V., Chonburi

Case Study — Initial Consultation

Understanding a Complex Cross-Border Pension Situation

The Situation

A client with pension entitlements in two countries and a long working history across Southeast Asia wanted to understand, as a starting point, how his Thai pension determination interacted with his other entitlements — and whether there was anything worth pursuing further.

What We Did

The initial consultation focused on listening to the client's full working history, reviewing available documents, and mapping out the Thai components clearly. We provided a written summary covering what the Thai determination covered, what it did not, and two potential directions if the client wished to proceed.

The Outcome

The client decided, after reading the summary, that the Thai situation was in order and that his principal concern lay elsewhere. He did not proceed to a further engagement — which was the right outcome for his circumstances. The consultation gave him what he needed: clarity and a basis to decide.

"It turned out my Thai pension was fine. That was genuinely useful to know, and worth the consultation fee to establish it clearly." — J.S., Pattaya
